ST. LOUIS (June 15, 2023) -- New on the scene in 2017, the locally owned Amp Up Action Park is celebrating its 6 th anniversary, also known as their Amp-iversary, this summer.
When Amp Up Action Park in Town & Country opened on July 1, 2017, owners Brian & Kim Link, never imagined the ups and downs of business ownership.
“We’ve enjoyed the highs, celebrating thousands of guests’ birthdays, bachelor parties and other milestones,” said Brian Link. We’ve also seen the lowest of lows being closed for three months due to the pandemic in 2020. There is no curbside sales of fun in our business. You take on risk as a business owner, but surviving a pandemic represents both a high and a low point.”
Brian Link is a retired U.S. Navy officer and veteran. He quit his day job to fulfill his dream of owning his own business in his hometown -- St. Louis. It’s truly a family affair; Link’s wife is his majority business partner and his two children also have worked at Amp Up.
“I love St. Louis and wanted to build a place that my friends and family would want to come hang out. I’m humbled that the concept worked. We’ve had an incredible reception for our one-of-a-kind business,” said Amp Up’s Link. “People ask how we survived. I’d say we’re constantly focused on growth and trying to adapt to what our community wants.”
As an example of the growth mindset, Link says just in time for Amp Up’s 6 th anniversary they are importing new pro karts from Europe. And last year for their 5 th anniversary, they completed an outdoor sports patio that can be used for pickleball, dodgeball, pick-up basketball, volleyball or futsal.
“We look forward to the future of our business, bringing joy to guests of all ages,” Link said. Amp Up Action Park operates in a former Walmart box store. Attractions include indoor electric go karting, virtual reality, axe throwing, laser tag, high ropes ninja course, dozens of arcade games. The expanded outdoor space offers a multi-sport court plus patio games of corn hole bags, bocce ball and soccer pool.
